Pricing
Fixed fees
Clear, upfront pricing and a free first conference on every matter, you will always know your fee before we start work.
Our Approach
Priced upfront, not by the hour
Fixed, not hourly
We quote a fixed fee for defined stages of your matter, such as advice and first mention, a defended hearing, or a plea in mitigation, so you know your cost before you commit, rather than watching a clock run against you.
Free first conference
Your first conference with us is free and carries no obligation. We use that time to understand your charge, explain the likely Court process, and give you a clear, written quote for the work ahead.
No hidden costs
Your quote covers what we agree it covers. If your matter changes in a way that affects scope, for example, a matter that was expected to resolve early instead proceeds to a defended hearing, we discuss any change in fee with you before further work is done.
How Matters Are Priced
What goes into your quote
Every criminal and traffic matter is different, so we do not publish a generic price list, a fee that is fair for a straightforward matter would be unfair to quote for a complex one, and vice versa. Instead, your fixed fee is worked out at your free first conference once we understand the specifics of your charge. The factors below are the main things that shape that quote.
The nature and seriousness of the charge
A simple traffic matter dealt with in a single Local Court mention is priced differently to a serious indictable offence that may proceed through committal to the District Court.
How the matter is likely to resolve
An early guilty plea with a plea in mitigation generally requires less work than a defended hearing or trial, where witnesses must be prepared, evidence tested and submissions made in full.
The number of Court appearances required
Matters that resolve at an early mention are more contained than those that run over several mentions, a case conference, and a hearing date.
The volume and complexity of evidence
Brief material such as police facts, CCTV, forensic or medical evidence, and expert reports all affect the time required to prepare a matter properly.
Whether it is a first offence or there is a prior record
Prior convictions, existing good behaviour bonds, or an existing licence disqualification can all affect the strategy taken and the material that needs to be prepared.
